Dear Parents
It certainly was a busy end to last week.
The Golf Day was an enjoyable day – the weather was kind to the golfers and the organisation and running of the event by Mrs Savvides, and her team of kind helpers went off very well! Thank you too for the parent and sponsor’s support. It certainly is appreciated.
Grade 7’s also enjoyed their special Entrepreneurs’ Day. Some budding business men and women are on the cards for the future! To those who enjoyed spending their profits – well done in your hard earned endeavours. To the Grade 7 parent body a big ‘thank you’ too for all the support and help given to your children.
The careers dress-up morning was good to see! The Staff too enjoyed their ‘change of roles’.
BIG WALK LUNCHES
Please ensure that if your child’s class is to visit the Spur, that your indemnity form is completed and returned to the class teacher as soon as possible. These visits begin next week. The staff will keep you informed.
STATIONERY PACKS 2009
Payment for these is required before the end of November; we have only the next 2 month ends left. We will hand out these packs, paid for in the last week of the term.
CONCERT 2009 – All Families Welcome
The Grade 4 – 7 concert tickets go on sale to all parents and children on the 23rd October. Please note that if your child is in the cast of the first half of the evening’s performance, they will require a ticket if coming into the hall after interval. Staff will keep the actors and actresses informed of all details.
Dates: 3, 4, 5 November at 19:00 - Tickets: R15:00 per ticket
STALLS: FAMILY / XMAS FAIR
Saturday 29th November 2008 between 15:00 and 18:00.
Families and friends who wish to run a stall on this day, please complete the reply slip at the end of the newsletter and return c/o Mrs Auret. The afternoon will have a number of activities to keep the children busy. The activities will be detailed in the next newsletter.
Disco for the afternoon.
If anyone is copy right compliant and is able to assist on the day, it would be appreciated.
ABSENTEEISM
It is alarming to see the statistics of children missing school – often no explanatory letter or contact with the teacher is made. Please accept that if your child misses any test or does not hand in tasks i.e. Grade 7 – music assignments, they will receive O for that piece of work. The excuses received by the children are in some instances quite unacceptable as to why they stay away from school. In turn we then find that acceptance and responsibilities to catch up missed work goes without due care.
NOTES TO DIARISE
Lots of learning required.
Next Friday – end of the first round of tests. Final end of term testing timetable for November to follow next week.
DRESS – 2009
As from 2009 a black blazer with a maroon trim will be introduced for children receiving school activity based special awards. As a scroll is awarded a letter will be given to each child and family, entitling each child to wear it on the special blazer.
This blazer is not for every child but only where a scroll is awarded and where the parent wishes to purchase such a blazer from our school stockist who will have the blazers prepared.
SCHOOL FEE PAYMENTS
A request is made by the Finance Committee that all fees are paid up by the 7th November. A special reminder to Grade 7 parents that Transfer Cards are prepared in November and go into their Reports, outstanding amounts are thus reflected on the Transfer Cards.
One of our young pupils gave me a little note with these sayings – trust that all our children and especially our Grade 6 and 7 pupils will read these and take them to heart.

‘Stand up for what is right even if you end up standing alone’
CONGRATULATIONS
To Kim Bona who was awarded her Eastern Gauteng Colours for tumbling. She was placed 7th in level 2 at the 2008 South African Gymnastic Games. Well done!
Yours faithfully
